Special Education


We are extensively involved in special education matters, including advice and hearings, as necessary. Our firm focuses on “preventive counseling” of its education clients with respect to complying with federal and state law pertaining to the education of students with disabilities. This approach involves:

• Attending Committee on Special Education meetings
• Assistance in drafting IEPs
• In-service training for school officials with respect to all aspects of this complex area of the law

The firm’s attorneys also represent Districts and BOCES in:

• Impartial hearings
• Appeals before the New York State Review Officer
• Appeals before federal and state courts
